Neutral Packaging vs White-Label: What Should You Choose
Both let you sell under your own name. The real difference is speed, minimums and who owns the product files.
Neutral packaging means the product ships in plain, unbranded boxes. White-label means the factory prints your logo, your colors and your instruction sheets. Both let you sell under your own name — the difference is the starting line.
Neutral wins on speed and low minimums. You can test a market with a few hundred units and no artwork costs. White-label wins on perceived value: an identical product with clean branding sells for more, and repeat buyers recognize you, not the factory.
The hidden factor is file ownership. With true ODM, the factory keeps the drawings and can sell the same design to your competitor. If the design matters to you, sign the NDA and pay for exclusive tooling — it's cheap insurance.
Our default advice: start neutral, graduate to white-label once a model proves itself, and lock exclusivity before you scale the marketing budget.
