How to Import Solar Panels from China in 2026: a Buyer's Field Guide
Certification pitfalls, container math and the three questions to ask every panel factory before you wire a deposit.
Solar is one of the highest-velocity categories we export, and also one where a small mistake in certification can cost you an entire container at customs. This guide covers what actually matters.
First, match the standard to the destination, not to the cheapest quote. Europe needs IEC 61215 / 61730 plus CE; Australia needs CEC listing; the US market has its own anti-dumping duties and UL path. Ask the factory which market their panel line is actually built for.
Second, do the container math before the unit math. A 40HC fits roughly 23-24 pallets of 550W panels; your landed cost per watt changes a lot with stacking and loading strategy. Ask for the factory's actual loading diagram.
Third, verify production capacity honestly. Ask for last month's shipping records, not projected capacity. A factory that ships 2MW a week can't suddenly do 10MW for you without subcontracting risk.
Every order we ship includes the panel datasheet, the batch test report and loading photos. If a factory won't show you those three before payment, that is your answer.
